About Us

CUTIES for the Cause is an organization based out of Hampton, VA. This organization was created by Taneja and Precious Jules. CUTIES stands for Courageous Unique Talented Inspired Empowered Survivor. It was created as a way to use fashion for a greater purpose, which is to inspire youth to chase their dreams and not allow any obstacle get in their way. Precious makes bracelets and Taneja designs clothing and other apparel. The brand was created as a way to encourage them in their talents.
The organization decided to go public, because Taneja is a victim of bullying because of her disability. She was diagnosed with Retinoblastoma at a very young age and when she started school she began to get bullied because of it. She started to lash out at others and her academics suffered over time. Taneja has always been taught to be strong willed and have a thick skin, but the last couple of years has begun to take a toll on her and has began to weigh her down. She is now to the age where fitting in takes on a whole new meaning. However, her parents and family recognized her talents for designing and chose to encourage her in that so she would concentrate on the positive things in her life.
As a result of the encouragement, she wanted to make a clothing line that would help her take a stand against bullying. She also wanted an opportunity to bring awareness to the cancer that changed the course of her life. Many do not know that Retinoblastoma is a very rare eye cancer. Because Taneja has Retinoblastoma she lost her eye, but her life was spared. The clothing line she created is called Awesome not Awkward. All of the t-shirts created have some type of logo or saying that promotes anti-bullying. With the help of her family and her sister (Precious) by her side, they have come to the point where they want their voice heard as well as others.
